ATTITUDE

We at Slider Gear Online believe that a proper attitude goes a long way toward making a great slider. Sliders with good attitudes tend to get hurt less, hurt customers less, and make the event more fun for all involved. Sliders with poor attitudes may perform well, but they get hurt, damage property, hurt guests, and make fellow team members and staff miserable.

In almost all situations, I'll take a mediocre slider with a stellar attitude over a great slider who is an ego filled complainer that takes risks with customer safety. Sliding is hard and Sliders are often considered elite scare characters. For that reason Sliders should understand that they will often be looked at as leaders and should behave appropriately.

Here's our Primer on good slider attitude. If sliders keep these in mind while training, they will turn into great performers and a great team.

A Slider is Physically Fit

A Slider is Observant

A Slider is in Control of his actions

A Slider is Responsible for his actions

A Slider is a Scare Character not a photo op
A Slider will not risk undue injury to themself or guests
A Slider shows respect to the skills they have learned and understand the dangers of the job.
A Slider shows respect to the show they work for
A Slider shows respect to the work of all the people involved in the show
A Slider does not Damage the Show, either physically or intangably
A Slider is remembered, make good impressions

Some of this may seem preachy, but I often look at sliding as if it was a martial art and not just a cool thing to do. If you don't respect the responsibilities of the job you will get hurt or you will hurt someone else.

For an easy way to remember the most important things we have our CORPSE training on the next page.
